Lone ripe tomato survives gardener rampage

Even with 4 inches of rain in 8 hours (thanks Hurricane Laura) only a few of these split before harvest. Lucky for these gems they’re still green, safely camouflaged by the well-behaved tomato vine and leaves. Hmmmm, can you call it a harvest if you just eat the pickings in the front yard?

Maglia Rosa tomatoes are so delicious they rarely make it past the front door and onto a plate. Usually the only thing they pass by are this urban farmer’s lips.
A tomato eaten right off the vine is the ultimate comfort food.
